The shorter walk is pretty flat, the longer walk has some reasonably gentle climbs in the meadow. The short walk takes 25- 30 minutes return. The longer walk takes about 45-50 minutes.
The name Old Spring Wood means it has been coppiced rather than it is full of springs. However, it does get quite muddy after wet weather and there are some interesting damp areas in the woods. There are also signs of mining in the woods, with several cone shaped depressions that may have been day or bell pits.
